Austrian Ski Trip '17
Posted: 1st March 2017Forest Hall School students make outstanding progress on the slopes!
33 Students from Forest Hall School spent the spring half term on an adventurous ski trip to Altenmarkt, Austria. Students completed 6 days of skiing, at all levels of performance with Altenmarkt offering a wide range of slopes for intermediates and experts. Stand out skier of the week was year 7 student Patrick Winnington, however the greatest achievement of the week goes to the beginners who had never touched skies before the start of the trip, and within a few days were skiing down mountains 2000m above sea level.
Feedback from parents has been very positive with many students asking to attend the next ski trip in 2019.
Dylan Nethercott (Year 11) said 'skiing was new to me but I picked up the techniques really easy with a positive attitude and I felt I really progressed in fantastic weather conditions, I would definitely go skiing again.'
The ski trip is not just about learning to ski, and PE Teacher Mr R Becko commented: 'Skiing is a great sport for students to pick up at a young age, regardless of your ability. The trip encourages students to compete a physical challenge which also pushes them mentally improving their determination in all walks of life”.
Students also got to experience local après ski activities. They completed a bob sleigh style rollercoaster, tubing on the ski slopes and visited a traditional Austrian bowling alley.
Students in years 7 to 11 will be able to experience the next ski trip to Austria in 2019.
