Harry Potter inspires creative ambition
Posted: 8th February 2023A behind the scenes look at the Harry Potter series inspired young artists to consider creative careers.
Year 9 students visited the Warner Bros Studio where the Harry Potter films were shot.
They took part in a workshop focusing on the Harry Potter film series artwork and how the production designer tackles a script from sketch to storyboard, model and the final set-up.
Students also looked at sets, props, costumes, special and visual effects, creative effects and visited the art department.
Jon Moran, subject leader of art, design and technology, said: “Students had a fantastic day out. The aim was for them to see an example of the working world and opportunities after school in the art, design and technology industry. Students saw how costumes, sets and props were sketched, developed and then finally manufactured for one of the most successful UK film franchises in history.”
Student Ed said: “My favourite part of the lesson was building a model of Hagrid’s Hut from paper.”
