Docklands Visit Supports History Lesson
Posted: 2nd February 2023A walk down a historical street helped students to understand a bygone era.
Year 8 students visited the Museum of London Docklands.
As part of their studies on the transatlantic slave trade, the trip gave them an insight into the topic.
Sarah Snowdon, head of year, said: "The trip gave students a sense of understanding of how horrific treatment was for Black individuals during this time. It also helped students to understand the role Britain played in this.
"The trip was also hugely beneficial as it helped link to our next topic of the industrial revolution. The museum focused on how London docks were used to export goods created by the industrial revolution and link that to the trade triangle. It was very interactive, with students able to walk down a replica street, with shops, taverns and a ship yard.
"The trip was a huge success. Students were really engaged in the topic material and enjoyed their visit to the museum."
