Children Support Younger Peers in Sport
Posted: 23rd November 2022Children were supported by their older peers as they developed their sporting skills.
Students in Year 8, 10 and 11 led and supported more than 200 primary school children through a programme of physical activities.
They took responsibility for warm-ups and guided Year 3 and 4 pupils as they practised throwing, jumping and running in games of netball, hockey and football.
Pupils from five primary schools gathered at Forest Hall for the multi skills event.
Head of PE Nicole Harris said: “This event allowed students to work with younger pupils and develop their leadership skills.
“Our students excelled when leading the groups of primary pupils. They showed leadership skills and responsibility in taking small groups.
“The event was a huge success, and our leaders contributed with confidence and enthusiasm. Numerous primary staff complimented our students on how well they conducted themselves.
“I am very proud of our students.”
