Posted: 21st January 2019Young people devoted two weeks to raising money for their chosen charity.
The various houses at Forest Hall School host their own charity fortnight each year.
Merlin house is the latest to focus on fundraising, gathering funds for Help for Heroes.
Students held a cake sale and a santa run, sung at a carol service and at Stansted Airport, as well as holding a Teachers’ Got Talent contest and a fair to boost the coffers. They raised a total of £540.
Head of Merlin house and music teacher Julia Lysons said: “Students from Year 7 to 10 in Merlin house decided which charity they wanted to support. A representative from Help for Heroes came into school to talk to all students about what they money they raised would be going towards.”
Hannah Jones, head of school, said: “I am very proud of the students in Merlin House for their drive to improve the lives of others. Taking part in fundraising helps to develop our exceptional students as active citizens of the school and wider community. Our students always show empathy and compassion to others – the amount of money they have raised here shows this!”
