Mersea trip boosts students' confidence
Posted: 20th July 2018Children had the adventure of a lifetime with an activity trip away from home.
Year 7 and 8 students from Forest Hall School took part in seven outdoor adventure activities during a trip to Essex Outdoors, in Mersea.
The 79 students rose to the challenge of each activity, including caving, team swing, climbing and zipwire.
Ruby McSweeney, Year 7, said: “The team swing was my favourite part. You had to rely on your team as they had to pull a rope to get you up high and then you and your partner had to pull another rope to release the swing.
“I was really scared to start with, but everyone was cheering us on. I got over my fear of heights as I got so much encouragement to do it.
“The caving was scary, too, as it was pitch black down there. But, it all taught me that I can do these things.”
The three-day trip saw students sleep in tents, many away from home for the first time.
Executive head Stephen Hehir said: “The annual Mersea trip is a key part of developing students’ teamwork skills and confidence by taking part in fun outdoor learning activities.”
