FHS Masterchef
Posted: 6th July 2017Miss Walsh got in contact with The Youth Programmes Manager at Springboard UK who run the Future Chef competition. They arranged for a KS4 class to work with some industry chefs at school in Summer Term.
Chefs Ed and Matt visited FHS for a dessert presentation masterclass!
Ed Fulcher is the Head Chef for the Lord Mayor of London and Matt Wright is an ex chef working in Hospitality recruitment for Collins King and Associates.
The chefs worked with students to recreate a simple Victoria sponge. The masterclass included: (1)Making a basic Chantilly cream
(2) learning how to fill and hold a piping bag
(3) piping techniques
(4) melting chocolate properly
(5) making a basic ganache
(6) making a fresh berry purée
All students had a chance to be creative and use the new skills to plate up a fantastic set of Victoria Sponges with a twist. Mr Hehir even got involved!
