GCSE Results 2024

GCSE Results 2024

Posted: 22nd August 2024

The number of students achieving higher grades in their GCSEs has risen at Forest Hall School.

Year 11 students returned to school today to collect their GCSE results.

It was a day of celebration as the school saw an increase in the number of students achieving both English and maths with a Grade 7 or above and the number of students achieving a Grade 5 or above.

There was also a leap in the number of students achieving Grade 7 and above in maths, English and combined science.

In combined science, there was a 20 per cent increase in the number of students who picked up a Grade 5 and above, while the number of students achieving Grade 7 and above in history, citizenship and food and nutrition is also up on previous years.

Among the top performing students this year are –

  • Carrie Amott, with one Grade 9, three Grade 8, three Grade 7, one Grade 6 and one Grade 4
  • Kai Booth, with three Grade 9, two Grade 8, two Grade 7, one Grade 6 and one Grade 5
  • Edward Duffy, with four Grade 7, two Grade 6, one Grade 5
  • Megan Ellis, with one Grade 9, two Grade 8, five Grade 6, one Grade 5

  • Rose Powell, with six Grade 8, three Grade 7 and one Grade 6
  • Tamsin Salmon, with one Grade 9, four Grade 8, two Grade 7, one Grade 6 and one Grade 5

Headteacher Dustin Schuyler said: “Our students have been resilient and diligent all year long. The progress they have made and the grades they have achieved are a result of that determination and effort.

“One of the things that Forest Hall School is known for is its unique size and how well we get to know our students. We knew how well they could do academically and that is evident in the results they have got today, with more students achieving Grade 9, 8 and 7 than ever before and students doing well across the board, particularly in English, maths and science.

“Not only have students performed well academically, but they have developed into outstanding young adults. They have high ambitions and plans for their futures. They now have the grades to start fulfilling those dreams.

“Well done and congratulations, all of us at Forest Hall School are incredibly proud of all of you.”

Kayleigh Trainor, assistant head, said: “Year 11 students approached their exams with incredible tenacity. They followed the advice of their teachers and made sure they made the most of the support available in school, from no study leave, masterclasses after school and Saturday school sessions throughout the academic year.

“Their efforts have translated into exceptional achievements across the board. Each and every student will have their own successes and should be very proud of what they have achieved. They have shown they can compete for the sixth form places, ambitious apprenticeships and college courses and that hard work provides the stepping stones to many post-16 opportunities.

“We are incredibly proud of their achievements.”
