"Invaluable" PTA praised
Posted: 16th December 2022The “invaluable” work of a school PTA has been praised for bringing opportunities and improvements to young people.
The parent teacher association organises events to raise funds to give extra equipment to students.
Events include raffles, quiz nights, treat days at the end of each term, cinema nights and Christmas fayres.
The latest initiative – the Christmas Advent Calendar – has seen 24 raffle prizes drawn over 24 days, with more than 1,500 tickets sold.
Prizes collected by the PTA include vouchers up to £100 for Amazon and Tesco, afternoon tea at Down Hall Hotel and The Tiffany Blue Box Café at Harrods, Christmas drinks hamper, chocolate and wine, cinema tickets, and bowling.
Kayleigh Trainor, PTA link, said: “The PTA is at the heart of the Forest Hall School community.
“They are incredibly proactive in ensuring we can continue to offer as many opportunities and improvements for the students as possible. They give up their time to ensure they know the school and the students; coming in at lunchtime to give our rewards to students and attending events in the evening.
“Their work is invaluable to us as a school.”
Tanya Ingram, chair of the PTA, said: “The PTA is only a small group, but anyone is welcome to join. We meet once a month during term time. If you don’t have the time to spare, but could source a raffle prize or donation, the PTA would be very grateful.
“Every penny we raise goes back into the school to purchase equipment that the school is not able to otherwise fund. We have previously raised money for laptops, books, musical instruments, science equipment and SEND equipment.”
