Families join weekly challenge
Posted: 15th April 2020Families are teaming up with their children to take part in our school’s weekly challenge.
Students at Forest Hall School take part in a Friday Challenge in their tutor groups each week to encourage students to work together, have fun and develop co-operation skills.
They are set a quiz or problem-solving activity to tackle.
Since the school closures due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the school has relaunched the competition as the Friday Family Challenge.
Claire Gannon, head of Harrier house, said: “To continue the competitive element and give some light relief in these challenging times, we are continuing with our competition in the form of the Friday Family Challenge.
“Each Friday, a new challenge will be emailed to parents and carers – it could be a current affairs quiz, quiz linked to an event such as Easter, problem-solving or a quiz linked to some aspect of school life. We hope our parents, carers and students will enjoy taking part and will even suggest ideas for future challenges.
“The aim is for us to provide something that brings us together as a school and helps us all to reconnect at this difficult time. It also provides some continuity to our students who are used to competing every Friday in the challenge at school.”
The first challenge asked families to identify close-up photographs of items found around the house.
Parent Emily Hill said: “It was a way to get the children off the computer, have a bit of fun and use their brains to do a treasure hunt around the house to find the things in the pictures.”
Daughter Molly said: “It was great fun finding the things in the pictures and I'm so glad we won.”
