Professionals help youngsters explore their futures
Posted: 29th March 2019Young people got to explore their futures when 18 professionals shared their industries with them.
Students in all year groups at Forest Hall School were able to visit a careers fair set up for them in their school hall.
Representatives from various professions explained their industries to visiting students and told them about their personal career paths, qualifications and responsibilities.
Sarah Power, careers and enrichment lead, said: “We had childminders, bank managers, charities and people from the environmental sciences visit, among others.
“The idea was for students to talk to the professionals about their different backgrounds to open their eyes to the jobs that are available to them, outside of the ones they already know about from their families. We wanted to see them wondering and inquiring.
“The students really enjoyed the opportunity.”
Stephen Hehir, executive head, said: “The careers education we provide at Forest Hall School challenges our students to think aspirationally about their future and about employment opportunities they might not have considered. It also helps them to make the right informed choices for their next step, whatever it might be.
“Well done to all students and staff involved.”
