Teenagers give back to community
Posted: 22nd August 2018Teenagers gave back to their community as they picked litter, tidied gardens and raised money for local causes.
Year 10 students at Forest Hall School took part in the school’s annual Community Day.
They spent the whole school day carrying out selfless tasks in support of the community they live in.
This year’s Community Day saw students complete seven tasks, including cleaning parks, gardening, picking litter, playing bingo with residents, preparing and serving food at the day centre and running sport sessions.
Head of School Hannah Jones said: “Community Day is about teaching our young people to respect their community and to give something back. It helps to develop them as active and responsible citizens.
“It’s a lovely feeling seeing the different generations out there working together; it’s good for development of students’ social skills as it takes them out of their comfort zone. It goes down well in the community and residents really appreciate it. It’s just the right thing to do.”
