New student executive team take on roles
Posted: 23rd May 2018Students have taken on new positions of responsibility at their school.
The Student Executive Team at Forest Hall School has been selected from students in Year 7 to 11 who will take on responsibilities around the school.
Benedek Balogh has been appointed as head boy with Amarni-Jai Newman as head girl.
The duo, along with the rest of the Student Executive Team, have taken on roles as eco, charity and safeguarding ambassadors and on the Student Voice and newly formed press team.
For the first time, the team has been formed with students from all year groups to share the responsibility.
Ross Becko, assistant head, said: “Members of the Student Executive Team take on extra responsibility and get extra rewards in return. They are getting an insight into micro-managing the school as they each take on a specific area of responsibility. They have an opportunity to make a difference.
“As people, they are increasing in confidence as they have to speak in assemblies and are becoming more well-rounded. It’s a great experience with lots of gains for them.
“This is the first time we have put these roles and responsibilities into place. We have previously had a student team made up of Year 10 and 11 students, but as the school is expanding, we are giving more opportunities to students of all ages.”
An eager 80 students applied for the nine positions available.
Year 9 Taya Cordell, a member of the press team, said: “We had to put together a CV and fill in an application form for the role before undergoing a full application process and interview.
“I want to encourage other people to come to Forest Hall as it’s a really good school. I also want to make sure the new Year 7 students know this is a safe place to be.”
